Data Secured Memory

SageMicro delivers special memory cards with data secured by hardware circuits in the controller. These cards can be Secure Digital (SD) card and its derived TF (MicroSD) cards, MultiMedia Cards and eMMC modules.

Besides normal memory cards’ standard functions and characteristics, they have many data secured features, including but not limited to the followings:

  • Multiple partitions
  • Hidden partitions
    (Only accessible by the special defined commands)
  • One or multiple partitions with data encrypted

Example: SD Card for Copyright Protection

SageMicro’s SP-SD card is a card with secured parameter partition. The whole card is configured into two partitions: user partition (UP) and parameter partition (PP). The PP is only accessible by a customized command set, and invisible to the operation system, also called as “hidden partition”. When the card inserted, the system can access the UP as default, and there are some preloaded files, such as boot file and communication files. The protection mechanisms prevent these files from being deleted, modified or renamed. The function of the boot file is to access the parameters in PP.

This architecture enables secondary loading mechanism and authentication process, improving the security, reliability and confidentiality of the systems.This solution has been successfully applied in internet telephony, e-books copyright protection, and other fields.
